Feminism

Feminism can be found as 1st, 2nd or 3rd wave feminism.  Throughout history, women have fought for equality and rights from their male counterparts.  However, in the 19th and 20th century, when women fought to win women's suffrage, education rights, better working conditions and the right to vote.  Women would no longer be treated as sound-class citizens without a vote and campaigned for the vote.  The women's suffrage campaign is the most deeply embedded campaign of the past 250 years.

Laura Mulvery:

Laura Mulvery is a British feminist film theorist and worked at the British Film Institute for many years.  She states that Hollywood cinema puts the spectator in a masculine subject position, with the figure of the woman on screen as the object of desire and "the male gaze".
